physics loveI love both math and physics and I'm a top student in school, shall I become a physicist or a mathematician?

I'm a 17 year old boy who has read a lot of books on math and physics. I love them both! I wish I could pick them both in the university; however I ought to choose one and study the other one besides college. I'll enter university next year. Which one do you suggest and why? Thanks for your suggestion.
Physicist! You'll do plenty of math but they aren't just numbers, they stand for something real.
Don't worry about that just yet, since either one requires 8-12 years of college, and you haven't even started studying either at the college level. Popular physics books are not like actually studying the subject. They tend to be very speculative and leave out all the actual math involved. Start college and take a few courses. See if you still like either of physics lovethem after taking E&M. Spend your college summers doing research in those fields with professors at your school or others to see if you're actually any good at coming up with original ideas, and to see if you like doing research. Then make a decision.
Realistically, you need to be looking relative to ACTUAL job opportunities (after graduation)..... and it's my guess unless you want to limit yourself to teaching math to highschool kids, mathematician would be a poor choice of avocations.
i'd go for physics both are really good fields, however, physics is more applicable and is more flexible when it comes to finding a job later on
Take introductory courses in both as a freshman. Then decide. Consider earning a double major or majoring in one and miphysics lovenoring in others. Consider other math-related careers such as statistics, engineering and actuary science.
Depends on what your long term goals are. Are you able to do one as a major/minor to the other? Are there no unis that let you do both? Have a good look around uni websites, and ask your tutors at school as they may have some ideas.
one of the best jobs for high pay and low stress is Actuary, so concentrate on math with an emphasis on statistics
Physics would be more interesting and the Maths in it are applicable!
Ok you sound really smart.
I think I heard somewhere that physicists make a lot of money soo...
You could major in physics and minor in mathematics!:) that's what I would do
